Dear Joanne,

Just a very few very belated words of thanks for the wonderful music you and your group and organist Michael Quinn performed at our wedding on June 5th in Corpus Christi, Drumcondra.

In part, my delay in writing has been that I really wanted to sing out to the rafters my joy at the contribution your music made to our day, firstly to Móinica and myself, but also to all our guests and other neighbours and parishoners who joined us on the day. Not all of our guests would be that familiar with church music of that quality but all were ‘blown away’ by the soaring sound.

Just to say a little more about Mónica and myself, we were both surprised by how much we were transported and brought to a quiet place in the midst of taking this important step in our lives and, so to speak, being in the spotlight. There were moments when we almost forgot what were the next steps in the ceremony and were just mesmerised by the beauty of the sound.

It was very good to meet you personally beforehand, but in those moments I was quite caught up in ensuring that everything and everybody were settled and ready for the ceremony. Then afterwards, as busy musicians you were all scurrying off to play somewhere else and I didn’t get to speak to many of you. So please convey our thanks and appreciation to all your singers and to Michael.(organist).

Not to speak of your professionalism in organising the music and getting together your group beforehand, and then keeping calm (and helping to keep me calm)….
